Canine Touch

After Canine TouchThe Canine Touch- Gentle Bodywork for your dog

The Canine Touch was developed by Veterinarian Dr Ivana Ruddock, and applies techniques similar to those of the Equine Touch. The Canine Touch, however, uses principles and procedures that have been developed to take into account the bio-mechanical differences between the species. It is a hand-on technique, designed to optimize the function of soft tissue, balance the nervous system and positively affect the body's energy to facilitate both good emotional and physical health.

The Canine TouchTM technique consists of gentle moves performed over muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments. These moves cover all the major muscles and their attachments or cross specific acupuncture or trigger points. The unique and powerful Canine Touch move when performed over these 'Key' areas can bring about profound positive changes in the dog's body at all levels: physical, emotional and behavioral.

The Canine Touch is a technique which empowers the dog owner to be an essential and important part of their dogs well being.

Canine Touch may be performed on young dogs to help them deal with their active life, as well as 'oldies' who can greatly benefit from a gentle session. It can help support function-impaired organs and relieve pain from the musculoskeletal system - arthritic joints and tight muscles.

Performing Canine Touch can provide complementary care for dogs recovering from illness or injury in this case, close cooperation with your veterinarian is essential.

Canine Touch will help to maintain a healthy musculoskeletal system, which in turn will help to protect joint function. Muscles tendons and ligaments support and control joint function, when muscles are injured or become tight around a joint, then the joint can become misaligned, this can cause uneven and premature wear and tear of the joint as well as pain. Releasing the muscles and encouraging repair of those muscles will help to reinstate the joint to its normal correct working position.

The Canine Touch is not a therapy or replacement for veterinary care, but it is a supportive and complimentary modality which can be used in conjunction with allopathic veterinary, chiropractic, osteopathy, physiotherapy, acupuncture and many other therapies.
